Judges Prizes: The second-last heat for the year and what I thought would be a big heat turned out to have a couple less people than usual, but you get that sometimes. It was interesting to have a couple of people either have musical accompaniment or sing parts of their work, it would be hard enough to even read your work in front of people I would imagine. Proving once again it doesn't really matter where in the order you read, the first poet up was one of the judges' prize winners. I don't vote myself, but I was happy with the audience and Stella's encouragement award winners. Next month is a big one with the final heat early in the month and the 2009 Poetry Idol final at BMW Edge as part of the Melbourne Writer's Festival, which should be great. |
