The second-last heat of this season of Poetry Idol and even the judges needed backup in the form of Geoff Lemon doing a guest judging spot.

He was really needed for this round as there were a lot of good poets including two who eventually won that I hadn't seen before. Congratulations to Avril Bradley who also won after becoming an audience favourite over the course of this year.

Next month will be very busy with the Melbourne International Film Festival and the lead up to the Olympic Games, but I am sure lots of poets will try and have one last go in the final heat before the finals so it will be a great night.
